Congressman Gonzalez Announces Nearly $1.3 Million in Additional Federal Funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for Valley International Airport
HARLINGEN, TEXAS — Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34)announced $1,289,000 in additional federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to update Valley International Airport’s existing master plan which will be used to guide its future infrastructure development and expansion efforts.
“Valley International is a vital gateway into South Texas,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “This federal investment into the ongoing infrastructure improvements is also an investment into our region’s ability to serve South Texas passengers, visitors, and our local economy.”

This funding ensures that we can responsibly plan for future infrastructure, safety, and operational needs as we continue to serve the Rio Grande Valley and support regional economic growth,” said Valley International Airport AviationDirector Marv Esterly.
Funding for this grant comes from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program and will be used to support the airport’s ongoing comprehensive Airport Master Plan (AML) Study to guide and outline customer and aviation needs by involving businesses and communities in South Texas. Through these funds, Valley International Airport will be able to assess the current safety, efficiency, operations, and services they provide to the public.
