CONGRESSMAN GONZALEZ ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $124.6 MILLION IN PRELIMINARY TITLE I ALLOCATIONS FOR RIO GRANDE VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICTS
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced Rio Grande Valley school districts in the 15th District of Texas are expected to receive a total of $124,667,319 in Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) Title 1 formula allocation funds for Local Educational Agencies (LEA). These amounts are preliminary. Final allocation totals will be released by the U.S. Department of Education in June 2022.
Title I funding allows schools to provide students with access to fair and equal educational opportunities in order to obtain a high-quality education.
"Every child deserves access to a high-quality education," stated Congressman Gonzalez. "This funding will equip students to succeed in the classroom and beyond. I look forward to continue working so that no student is left behind as we rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic."
The following preliminary allocations have been provided to LEA's in the Rio Grande Valley:
· Donna ISD: $12,940,392
· Edouch-Elsa ISD: $3,662,104
· Edinburg ISD: $19,983,323
· Hidalgo ISD: $1,524,662
· La Joya ISD: $21,115,300
· La Villa ISD: $287,472
· McAllen ISD: $14,233,865
· Mercedes ISD: $3,917,353
· Mission ISD: $9,979,234
· Monte Alto ISD: $647,930
· Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD: $19,352,502
· Progreso ISD: $1,106,042
· Sharyland ISD: $3,864,537
· Valley View ISD: $2,462,150
· Weslaco ISD: $9,590,453
The U.S. Department of Education expects to release final allocations in June of this year. Final numbers will differ from the preliminary allocations due to updates to the annually collected counts of children in locally operated institutions for neglected or delinquent children, in foster homes, and in families above the Census poverty line that receive assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (non-Census formula children's data) and to LEA finance data used in the Education Finance Incentive Grants formula. There may be additional differences if a State were to report revisions to its State Per-Pupil Expenditure (SPPE) data.
Congressman Gonzalez continues to be an advocate for every child in the 15th District of Texas and will work to bring additional funding to schools across South Texas.
