Congressman Gonzalez Announces Karnes and Guadalupe Counties Small Businesses Eligible for $250,000 in Hurricane Harvey Relief

February 21, 2020

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that small businesses in Karnes and Guadalupe Counties are eligible for grants from $50,000 to $250,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief. Texas Back in Business, a private disaster relief company contracted by the Texas General Land Office (GLO), will distribute a $100,000,000 Hurricane Harvey Relief Program for Texas Small Business.

Small Business owners from affected counties are encouraged to apply for this grant funding. Please note that this is a grant, not a loan, and will not require repayment.

The $100,000,000 in funds were authorized by the U.S. Congress as part of the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2018 and Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Requirements Act, 2017. This is a historic allocation of funds from Congress to help small businesses damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

"The United States and Texas will never forget the devastation that Hurricane Harvey caused," said Congressman Gonzalez. "I encourage those who were impacted by this natural disaster to take full advantage of the financial resources available through Texas Back in Business."

The Hurricane Harvey Relief Program for Texas Small Business is administered by Texas Back in Business, an independent organization contracted by the Texas General Land Office. The Program and Texas Back in Business are not affiliated with the SBA. However, to qualify for funding, your business must be a small business as classified by the SBA. You can find more information on the classification here.

Deadline to apply for these grants are March 2, 2020. More information can be found at TexasBackInBusiness.com.
