Congressman Gonzalez Announces 2022 COPS School Violence Prevention Program Grant Application Period

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that the Office of Community Oriented Policing (COPS) located within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is now accepting applications for its 2022 School Violence Prevention Program.

"Our students and teachers deserve to teach and learn without fear of violence in the classroom," stated Congressman Gonzalez. "I urge our local government and school leaders to apply for this funding to ensure the continued safety of faculty and students. I am proud to represent South Texas which continues to lead by example by being one of the safest regions in the country thanks to the efforts of our community and law enforcement leaders."

The 2022 COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program is a competitive program that provides funding directly to States, units of local government, Indian tribes, and their public agencies to be used to improve security at schools and on school grounds in the jurisdiction of the grantee through evidence-based school safety programs. Up to $53 million is available for this program.
