Congressman Gonzalez Announces 2020 Census Count Question Resolution Operation (CQR)

January 7, 2022

McAllen, Texas – On Friday, January 7, 2022, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced the opening of the 2020 Census Count Question Resolution Operation (CQR) by the United States Census Bureau (USCB). The CQR will allow eligible units of government to request the Census review their boundaries and housing counts in order to identify possible errors during the 2020 Census count.

"There is no question that our community was undercounted in the 2020 Census," stated Congressman Gonzalez. "Undercounts deprive communities of federal funding that allows us to address some of the most crucial issues affecting residents. I encourage all those eligible to participate so that South Texans receive their fair share."

Any corrections made will not impact apportionment counts, redistricting data or any other 2020 Census data. The corrections will allow accurate population counts and precise funding amounts for local governments. Eligible governmental units Include:

· Tribal areas, including federally recognized tribes with a reservation and/or off-reservation trust lands, Alaska Native Regional Corporations, and Alaska Native villages.

· States or equivalent entities (e.g. District of Columbia, Puerto Rico).

· Counties or equivalent entities (e.g. boroughs, parishes, municipios).

· Minor Civil Divisions (e.g., townships).

· Consolidated Cities.

· Incorporated Places (e.g., villages, towns, cities).
