Congressman Gonzalez Announces $2 million U.S. Department of Energy Grant for UTRGV 

Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) was awarded $2,000,000 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration.

This grant will aid in developing and sustaining the DOE Consortium of Advanced Additive Manufacturing Research and Education for Energy Related Systems. This project will focus on recruiting, training, engaging, and preparing students from underrepresented groups for a career in Advanced Manufacturing in energy related fields.

"Enhancing our STEM programs will prepare students to apply their skills and knowledge in the real world," said Congressman Gonzalez. "I am thankful for the Department of Energy's continued support for South Texas students and institutions. I know our students have a bright future ahead of them and I'm proud to represent and deliver funding to such talented individuals."
