CONGRESSMAN GONZALEZ ANNOUNCES $123.7 MILLION IN FINAL TITLE I ALLOCATIONS FOR RIO GRANDE VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICTS
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today announced $123,736,526 in final Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) Title I allocations for Local Education Agencies (LEA) in the 15th District of Texas. The U.S. Department of Education has released the final formula allocations for these funds, which were preliminarily announced in March 2022.
Title I funds allow schools to provide students with access to fair and equal educational opportunities in order to obtain a high-quality education.
"A quality education is the key to the middle class," stated Congressman Gonzalez. "This funding will equip our schools to support students' success in the classroom and beyond. I look forward to continue working with our local school districts to move the Valley forward."
The school districts in the Rio Grande Valley have received the following final funding allocations:
· Donna ISD: $12,940,734
· Edcouch-Elsa ISD: $3,662,103
· Edinburg Consolidated ISD: $19,862,971
· Hidalgo ISD: $1,524,662
· La Joya ISD: $21,115,300
· La Villa ISD: $287,471
· McAllen ISD: $13,993,106
· Mercedes ISD: $3,917,352
· Mission Consolidated ISD: $9,979,233
· Monte Alto ISD: $640,355
· Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD: $19,218,157
· Progreso ISD: $1,106,042
· Sharyland ISD: $3,733,063
· Valley View ISD: $2,398,884
· Weslaco ISD: $9,357,093
The final allocations differ from the preliminary allocations due to the availability of updated annual collected counts of children in locally operated institutions for neglected or delinquent children, in foster homes, and in families above the Census poverty line that receive assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (non-Census formula children data) and to LEA finance data used in the Education Finance Incentive Grants formula. There may be additional differences if a State were to report revisions to its State Per-Pupil Expenditure (SPPE) data.
Congressman Gonzalez continues to fight for every child in the 15th District of Texas and will work to bring additional funding to improve schools across South and Central Texas.
