Congressman Gonzalez Announces $105M for Rio Grande Valley School Districts in the 15th District of Texas

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today announced $105,358,938 in Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) Title I formula allocations funds for Local Educational Agencies (LEA) in the Rio Grande Valley.

Title I funding assist school districts in the effort to give all students fair, equal, and significant opportunities to obtain a high-quality education. The funding also supports students reach state academic achievement standards and academic assessment goals.

"This year is going to be different in regards to how schools provide educations to kids because of the pandemic," said Congressman Gonzalez. "Regardless, every student and teacher deserves access to learning resources and adequate teaching tools. These federal funds will provide a firm foundation for achieving academic success in the school districts across the Rio Grande Valley."

The following allocations have been provided to LEA's in the Rio Grande Valley:

  • Donna ISD: $14,308,308
  • Edcouch-Elsa ISD: $4,055,142
  • Edinburg ISD: $21,155,989
  • Hidalgo ISD: $1,466,863
  • La Villa ISD: $354,808
  • McAllen ISD: $15,509,414
  • Mercedes ISD: $4,328,825
  • Mission ISD: $11,061,314
  • Monte Alto ISD: $611,084
  • Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD: $19,018,407
  • Sharyland ISD: $3,595,276
  • Valley View ISD: $130,183
  • Weslaco ISD: $9,763,327
