Congressman Gonzalez and Nine House Democrats Urge Biden Administration to Reassess LNG Export Freeze
Decision Will Be Devastating for American Energy Security
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) joined nine Democratic Member of Congress in sending a letter to President Biden in response to the administration’s decision to halt pending and future approvals of LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) exportsto non-free trade agreement countries until the U.S. Department of Energy updates their authorization process.
“We write to urge you and your administration to refocus on policies that support U.S. liquified natural gas (LNG) exports. Your continued prioritization of LNG exports ensures a future marked by affordable, accessible, and sustainable energy resources that foster global stability and propel the energy transition. We firmly believe that LNG exports hold significant benefits for the U.S. economy, energy security, and bolstering our alliances with U.S. partners across the world,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter.
The letter was signed by Congresswomen Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) and Mary Peltola (AK-AL), and Congressmen Veasey (TX-33), Don Davis (TX-01), Henry Cuellar (TX-28), Jim Costa (CA-21), Lou Correa (CA-46), and Colin Allred (TX-32).
