Valley Congressman Pledging to Rising Cost of Prescription Drugs
MCALLEN, Texas - Congressman Vicente Gonzalez is pledging to reverse what he calls the unacceptable trend of the rising cost of prescription drugs.
A recently released AP investigation shows during the first seven months of 2018, American families have faced 96 price hikes for prescription drugs for every one price cut.
Gonzalez says little is being done to fix America's prescription drug market. In the month of May the Congressman co-sponsored a bipartisan bill called the Phair Pricing Act to lower prescription cost.
"We need to control pharmaceutical drug prices. They are through the roof, in fact they made windfall profits this past year and they seem to be investing those windfall profits in rising stock cost instead of addressing the rising cost of pharmaceuticals to people.”
Gonzalez says his bill would bring transparency to a notoriously complex industry.
