Federal Funding For Tropical Texas Behavioral Health

September 27, 2018

WASHINGTON - Congressman Vicente Gonzalez has announced that the Center for Mental Health Services has awarded $125,000 to Tropical Texas Behavioral Health. Funding will be used to expand mental health services.

"This funding will help Tropical Texas Behavioral Health offer more consistent and reliable support to individuals with a mental illness," Congressman Gonzalez said. "It is my hope that mental health professionals across Central and South Texas will take advantage of funding opportunities like this to improve the mental health and well-being of our communities."

Funding from the CMHS allows facilities, like TTBH, to:

  • Improve and increase the quality and range of treatment, rehabilitation, and support.
  • Make it easier for people to access mental health programs.
  • Respond to an increasing number of mental, emotional, and behavioral problems among America's children.
  • Support outreach and case management programs for thousands of homeless Americans.
  • Ensure that scientifically-established findings and practice-based knowledge are applied in preventing and treating mental disorders.

Congressman Gonzalez continues to be an advocate for improving the overall health of residents in the 15th District of Texas.
