Riviera, Texas—Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34), joined by Kleberg County Judge Rudy Madrid, Kingsville Mayor Sam Fugate, and other local officials, delivered $850,000 in Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding he secured for the construction of a boat ramp and other upgrades to the existing fishing pier and parking lot at Baffin Bay.

“Coastal Bend families deserve modern infrastructure, and these funds will be used to enhance public access to Baffin Bay, mitigate shoreline erosion, support local law enforcement operations, and serve as a catalyst for expanded marine research throughout Laguna Madre,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “Through my close partnership with Judge Madrid, Mayor Fugate, and local leaders, I successfully secured this project and passed it into law. I look forward to its completion.”

“What a great project, and as usual, Vicente Gonzalez made it happen. We’re fortunate to have him as our congressman,” said Mayor Fugate.

“Kleberg County is very grateful to Congressman Vicente Gonzalez for spearheading our efforts on securing this funding. These monies will go directly toward ecotourism, law enforcement, border protection, and will be utilized by Texas A&M Kingsville’s upcoming Marine Biology Program. ¡Saludos!” said Judge Madrid.

As a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Gonzalez successfully secured $12.6 million in federal funds for 15 community projects this past year, including for recreational and public safety improvements at Baffin Bay.
