May 22, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced a total of $7,942,245 in grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for 18 Public Housing Authorities (PHA) throughout South Texas. The grants are provided by HUD’s Capital Fund Program which provides annual funding to eligible PHA’s to support construction, renovation, or modernization of public housing their respective communities.

“In 2023, Texas ranked the 6th worst state in the nation for affordable housing,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “The rising costs of rent and homeownership across our country highlights the important role that public housing plays in supporting disadvantaged communities.
