January 25, 2021

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced Louise Bentsen as the new incoming Chief of Staff for the office of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez. Previously the Legislative Director for the Congressman, Bentsen will oversee and manage the Washington, D.C. and Texas district offices and staff in addition to supporting Congressman Gonzalez's legislative agenda.

"Louise has been invaluable to me and the 15th District of Texas in the years we have worked together," said Congressman Gonzalez. "Her experience and deep knowledge of Washington and all things South Texas will be vital as we confront some of the biggest health and economic challenges of our lifetime. Louise is eminently qualified for this role and I look forward to continue working together in the 117th Congress."

"I'd also like to thank Jose Borjon for his years of service to the 15th District of Texas," added Gonzalez. "He has worked for several Members of Congress from South Texas and I was fortunate enough to have him as my Chief of Staff when I was first elected to Congress. He will be missed, and I wish him the best of luck in his next chapter as he ventures into the private sector."

"I'm honored to serve Central and South Texans in this new capacity," said incoming Chief of Staff Louise Bentsen. " I thank Congressman Gonzalez for entrusting me with this immense responsibility and look forward to working with him to deliver for the 15th District of Texas."

Bentsen was most recently Legislative Director to Congressman Gonzalez, where she staffed the Congressman on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the U.S.-Mexico Interparliamentary Group and oversaw all legislative operations. Prior to joining Congressman Gonzalez's office, Louise served as a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28), where she supported the congressman's work on the House Appropriations Committee. Before Congress, Louise served as a Research Assistant at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels, Belgium. Her passion for public service began at an early age as she watched her father and great-uncle serve their fellow Texans at the local and federal levels. Louise holds a BA in History from Rice University and an MSc in Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
