An applicant for a nomination must meet the following eligibility requirements as of July 1 of the year of admission to a service academy. He or she must be:

1. at least 17 years old, but not have passed his or her 23rd birthday; and,
2. a United States citizen; and,
3. unmarried, not pregnant, and without any legal obligation to support children or other dependents.

The United States Coast Guard Academy does not accept Congressional nominations.  Rather applications must be submitted directly to the Coast Guard at:
